The only pedal that I have had to remove to get the board out is the gas pedal. If you have to remove the brake pedal, then something is not right. It's a tight fit for sure, but doable assuming no floor damage and a board with proper dimensions.

Late to chime in, but I suspect that your floor is the culprit here. It's in rough shape, and probably higher in spots beneath the floor board brace. Some strategic hammering with a block may take it down enough to get the board out.

Simply, if the pedal board isn't in great shape, cut it up and remove it.

My floorboards were toast - bought new plywood at Rockler & made new ones. Couple coats black paint - good as new.

Ken, that was a project I did some 45 years ago on my dad's (now my son's) Roadster after the original boards gave up the ghost. Still going strong after all these years...

+1 Mike.....

Dennis consider using a Dremel to trim just the areas holding up the removal. It may not take much plus you don't want to deal with this again.
That way you can retain most of the original or use it as a template since it will have the improved cutouts.
We feel your pain and frustration of dealing with anything below the steering wheel.

Post #8 of mine or #18 of Bruce’s pretty much covers it- there’s not much to this. The floor is about the only variable.

Tom Perazzo, makes new toe boards, and they have the trap door on the passengers side. I used them in the last car I did and they are superior to the originals. Sales@ZalexIndustries.com 858-243-0476

I have his right side board, it’s quite nicely made.

+1 on the smugglers' box on the right side. It lets you stash spare parts unless you have an electric fuel pump primer there (I don't).

You just had to bring up the term "smuggler's box" didn't you. The DHS follows these forums. Now every time I go through the Border Patrol checkpoint on I-19 just south of me, I'm going to be pulled over and have to lift my floor mat. Thanks, guys.
Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints.....

Back in the 70's when I worked at the dealer, it was amazing how many places people used for their stashes in 356's and 911's. The tunnel, door pockets, carpet pockets, up behind the dash, under the seats. but I never saw the smugglers box in use, too hard to get to.

Thanks John. This was not obvious to me, even looking at the exploded parts diagram. I think you saved me a lot of aggravation.
