Once again, thank you to everyone who "advised" me on fixing my door latch issues! Both "new" original handles for my '60B Cab are now cleaned, lubed, reassembled, and installed, and both sides work wonderfully!! And Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

(And check for my next door handle issue on my '57A Coupe. Not a show stopper, but confusing and not right...)

Latching on to this thread

I have mine apart and did the passenger side easy. Drivers is finicky. Getting it together I can’t get the key to turn enough to lock and unlock.

The first picture shows that the plunger was modified also. I have a couple old plungers but they are pretty corroded, I think I am going to try to clean up enough to see if that’s the problem before I buy a new one.

I've had to file the slide plate to make sure it doesn't bind in the receiver and sometimes the slot in the receiver has some burrs. Also make sure the slide plate is oriented correctly.

I also had to do some file work to get things to operate smoothly when I did the chrome work on my door handles and door locks. If it helps any, I took photos and wrote up my experience.

So far I think I have now figured out that the handles are generic side to side. Even though the corroded originals are both marked left.

I can see that the plungers are different, how the slide holes line up with the grub screw channel.I have 3 with the slide hole slightly left oriented , the only right orientated was one of the corroded ones I had laying around from who knows where.

I can’t identify wether the key mechanisms have a side requirements.I am on delay as I order the other plunger.
Thanks

I'd use silicon paste.

Mark,
The lock mechanisms are different for each side. Starting in post # 51 there is the answer.
