Seats are probably the biggest frustration in restoring these cars. Pretty much nobody does them right. Reason for this is lack of quality materials and insufficient knowledge of what seats looked like when new.

Seeing the posts following mine makes me wonder whether the firm AI seats I sat on many years ago were done by the folks who now are at Autobahn. As I mentioned, my experience was long ago.

Thanks to you all! My car, had only 13k on it when taken over in 1969. There was more room between the steering wheel and the seat. I will talk to AI after the Holiday. I may drive down and have them adjust them while I stay over. The car is such a blast to drive, I am motivated to get the seating more suitable.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

buy a new spring base and seat pad from these guys.
My seat was a little to soft when I bought my car.
I had a very good guy take a look and he added to some foam supports.
Did not feel right.
I ordered a new spring base and seat pad and had these installed.
As good as I imagine it was from new

Most of us had more room from the steering wheel in 1969.
