Chrome surrounds for sunvisor in very poor condition. Pitted and rusty. Hoping to rechrome.
Have side frames off but top frame well and truly fused to perspex.
Do they come apart? Any tips?

Yes, they come apart. I've redone two sets from pre-A cars, and the plastic was so shrunk they just slipped apart after drilling out the old rivets. I would try soaking the top frame and lens in Simple Green overnight in attempt to dissolve some of the corrosion. (I would hesitate using a harsh soaking solution that may damage both the frame and the lens.) Then try clamping the lens in a padded vice and tap lightly from end to end on both sides, on the inside edge of the frame with a plastic putty knife and 6oz. ball peen hammer to try and free it up.

(Just found this photo of '53 visors; disassembled and after plating.)
You'll probably want to clean your frame pieces with very fine sand paper and/or 0000 steel wool before you take to your plater. My frames show a very tiny bit of corrosion pitting on the top frames, but with the overall sparkle, it's hardly noticeable.
