Pre A Speedster Grey Hood Gasket

#1 Post by Andrew James Palmer »

Hi Everybody,

Trying to locate a grey hood handle gasket for a pre A Speedster (80279) with “bull head” handle.

Does anybody have one or could point me in the right direction please?

Thanks

A few years ago, Terry at International Mercantile created some grey rubber seals for that early hood handle.
Be aware, though - - - - there never were any molded rubber profile gaskets for the blunt nose hood handle. The handles were fitted at the factory using hand-cut rubber pads. The rubber gaskets should fit neatly within the footprint of the handle.

Interesting do we know for a fact there was no wrap around gasket or is it just speculation? Was there a formed gasket for the back of the handle? possibly was it a cost saving thing on the fist speedsters? Here is a pic of my gray wrap around on my 55 cab . I actually like the look of the thick non formed gasket . as for the gray i was always lead to believe that the gray was only used on cabs .The coups and speedsters had black.

Regards Ned
