356C Outer Seat Rail Supports

#1 Post by Frank Swanson »

1964 356C Karmann Coupe #217202, COA Birth/Delivery Date: 04-01-1964

What is the correct Outer Seat Rail Supports for my 356C. Did the C Karmann Coupe possibly start out with Outer Seat Rail Supports same as in the B catalog and then changed to that shown in the C Supplement Katalog or do all 1964 C's have the Outer Seat Rail Supports as shown in the 356 USA 60 65 Katalog? Here is a photo that I found on a 356 Talk Search and also the 356 B & C Group 7 Katalog pages.

Have not found any 356 vendors that sell the Outer Seat Rail Supports, nor did I find any on eBay or Samba. Does anyone have a pair that they would like to sell? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Stoddard sell one like in the photo which is the same as my T6 B has for front mounts. I thought the C used the same ones but I don’t know that for sure.
My Stoddard bolts were also like in the photo- too long.

Frank, I have one going spare with the seat rail. It's the right side outer.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

To clarify I am looking for a set of right and left Outer Seat Rail Supports (I think its part # 644.521.017 & .018) that support the seat guide rails and bolts to the front and rear support mount that is welded to the outer floor pan next to the longitudinals.

To answer Frank's original question --

The seat rail mounts are/were 644 521 303 06, four required. Not available
but plentiful on the used market. Look for good used ones on Ebay such as https://www.ebay.com/itm/265560707140?h ... Sw5rViE~CW

BTW, seat rails (only) are available, set of four, see 644 521 301 06 See https://www.stoddard.com/64452130106.html

Brad, what mounts do you mean? The only parts that there are four of are the bolts and the tracks. The mounts on a C are two fronts and two rears.

Brad R, Yes the seat rail mounts on eBay at the address below look great (wow $475) for my driver if I also finish the restoration before I die. Why do you need four? The eBay ones have 7 each bolt holes just like the seat rails. I thought one on the outside of each seat was all you needed, because the inner seat rails are mounted on the 356C tunnel.
Thanks for your help Brad R.

If you are looking for the long supports that bolt to the floor, where four bolts are located, two front and two rear, I have a set of those.
