Christensen Plating

#1 Post by Dave Erickson »

Is Christensen plating open currently? My calls are not getting answered or returned and Jose is three weeks late with a front overrider bar.

I'm waiting for parts as well. I just spoke with him on Friday and he told me that he's been sick for the past 3 weeks.

I called him this morning and he told me the same thing. He said my part was shipped Friday so I expect it in a couple days. He also said that he will probably be closing the business in a year due to California shutting down all the plating shops.

He was considering moving to Arizona. I refer to him as the "Tiffany's of Chrome". If he stays in business, parts can be mailed to him.

Good to know we have options, Jim. I've also used Supreme Plating in Inglewood, CA but I think CAL-EPA is tightening up on chrome plating. I haven't heard or read anything about cad-plating.

I've been plating with Galvanize, then lightly bead blasting to tale the sheen off. Holds up better than cad. Jim.

Cad takes worse chemicals than chrome or zinc from what I’ve heard. I have a local guy that’s still able to do cad, but most platers wont do it anymore.

When looking to Chrome my door frames I have found Pacific Polishing in Pomona, Calif., they did an outstanding job and also did welding at no charge, just good quality work and very knowledgeable on 356s.
