Radio installation early B

#1 Post by Helge Tielker »

Hey guys,
I have a restored Frankfurt Radio (not a TR) - so two parts. The question is, how should it be installed?
Does anyone has under the dashboard pictures so I can see how to get it fixed?
there is a sort of triangle (flexible moving) .. but I seriously have no clue how to install it.

is the radio only hold by the two nuts from the buttons?

any help is as usual highly appreciated.

PS: I haven't found any information in:
- Kellogs's books,
- Dr. B Johnson
- the technical and restoration guide part 2 (hmm I am missing part one)
- workshop manuals ...

cheers from Holland

PSS: beside installation, I guess it is necessary to use a fuse .... is there a (free) connection in the fuse box for the radio?

Helge, I suggest that you take a look at what Charlie White put together re Blaupunkt radios.

https://derwhites356literature.com/DerW ... adios.html

Scroll down and you will see an installation guide.

I have a similar Blaupunkt radio. I installed an inline fuse on the wire that powers the radio. See https://www.stoddard.com/64461281301.html

Good luck.

@Peter, thanks for the tips ... I have read the installation guide but it is very tiny and not really good to read :(.

what I do not understand (I have to follow the A instruction) is the area where to install the "power pack" - what does: under the side kick board mean - is this behind the wooden plate ..

would appreciate any pictures from A's with a factory tube radio installed ... especially for the place of the "power unit".

thank you all ... for sharing so much knowledge ... great forum, great people,

ktf

Please post a photo of your radio so that we can better understand what you are working with.

Helge -- photos of how the power pack attaches to the radio. This is a TR in a '63B, so should be similar since the power pack is the same. Ted

Helge, the power pack you have is for an older car. I don't understand why the power cord is too short. Maybe some one with the same radio can get a rough measurement of the cord. A possible solution is to send it to someone to have a longer cord installed. There should be a bracket in the passenger side footwell for the power pack. Another solution would be to have your radio modified by Turn Switch which would eliminate the need for the power pack.
