I just got my carbs back from being rebuilt by 356 carb rescue
They change the location of the throttle linkage on the front of the carbs - rotated a few notches. I assume this is how they should be.
Now I need to adjust the rest of the linkage as a result.
Can anyone tell me correct length of the linkage rod below the oil filter? See pics
Any other linkage adjust info would be appreciated also

Re: 1956 356A Coupe Carb Linkage Questions
Steve, its not that simple. First you need to set the top linkage bar at the correct angle, which requires adjusting the linkage under the car. There is a method to follow, and there are no absolutes like the lengths of the linkage bars.
Ab Tiedmann wrote it up, and there is a copy in the technical library on the registry website. Here is a link, but it probably won't work unless you are logged in to the other site:

You can also look in 356 C Workshop Manual, p SF 26, Figure 8.

Sorry to say that links to documents in the document library don’t work even if you are logged into the website. A link to a website page will work that way. The best way to reference a document is to indicate the search terms. In this case, search for “linkage.”

Re: 1956 356A Coupe Carb Linkage Questions
I don't find anything relevant to my issue by searching "linkage" in this forum.
Not sure why a 356 C workshop manual would help for the early 356A linkage but don't have access to that manual in any case.
Thanks for your responses.

Steve, go to the 356 Garage -> Technical Library -> Document Library -> Garage Technical -> Tech Articles Legacy Website, then find #89 A Systematic Approach to Full Throttle

I just set the carb linkage on my '56 and following this instruction did the job. A little tweaking may be needed and dont forget step number 5) Adjust the 10 mm head bolt under the gas pedal if you have.

Does your '56 have Solex 32PBI carbs?
I got the writeup from the archives and it appears to apply to Zenith carbs as it pertains to the fan housing area. Is that right?

Re: 1956 356A Coupe Carb Linkage Questions
Sorry I did not pay enough attention, I am not familiar with 32 pb setup. I am running Webers in my '56.
Very different setup then, getting the bell cranks right should still be important to get max "lifting" movement, set wrong and movement will be a mix of rotation and lifting. I just setup my '56 again (with webers though) with new linkage kit and had to start from the bell cranks to get full throttle.
