356C vent window parts sequence
I am putting together parts for the mounting stem. Is this correct order?. I do have lock nut that is not shown. I am missing 2 parts. one is the fiber washer that is 6x 18 and the other is the small Resitex washer for the upper pivot.
The fiber washer is available but not the small washer 4mmx9mm approx. Anyone know source other than big box stores. I'll purchase either if you have them. Tom

Re: 356C vent window parts sequence
Thanks Mike,
I have looked at diagrams of this and based on the photo, I only need 1 of the thin washers that surround the fiber washer. Both of the vent windows I have, there are 2. I do not know why there would be 2 other than shimming perhaps.

Tom,
if you mean the small washer on top of the chrome pivot, the one in Mikes diagram, inside the circle, I have a few of them.
If it is those you mean, PM me your address and I will send you them.

Let me check my stash as well. You know the brass washers go in the base recess.

Re: 356C vent window parts sequence
Not sure if this helps, but here are photos of mine when I did the chrome to the car. Take your time, and don't force anything. It will all go together and fit nicely (eventually). Both Mike and Eric are experienced at this and their advice/comments will be helpful.

Re: 356C vent window parts sequence
Great photos. I do not have the 9 x 15 spring washers that are 1st to go on the stem. They are available so my sequence is not correct. The workshop manual is extremely vague as is a search on the 356 Talk tech site. Also, I did not know about the brass washers. Are they for shimming?

Re: 356C vent window parts sequence
Just a guess but I think the brass washers act as shims in the recess of the base and maybe add a little tension to the vent window.

Re: 356C vent window parts sequence
Thanks for the info guys. Does anyone know of the Porsche part number for the brass washers/shims? I cannot find it in the parts book nor is any info on the use of them.

Re: 356C vent window parts sequence
I think in the B parts manual, section 6/5 #14 it's referred to as a fan disc. Part #A 8 DIN 137. They look like thin brass shim washers to me. However, the parts manual calls for only two. Seems to me I used 3 per vent window.

Re: 356C vent window parts sequence
Hi Mike,
the part is 900 028 004 01 is the spring washer 9x15 mm. 1 each side right & left. Those I have. I also have 2 brass washers that go inside the little bracket. It looks like the spring washer goes 1st then the 2 fiber spacer, 3 slotted washer, 4 thrust spring, 5 guide shim and 6 self locking nut. Nothing I can find about the shims and how to stack them, Nothing in the shop manual either.
