Replacing Beehive taillight socket

#1 Post by Daryl Bertram »

I need to replace a couple of the sockets on my PreA's beehive taillights and I see that Stoddard sells the sockets single and double. Are they press fit in the original bases or soldered in? I don't see any vendors that sell the 6 volt single/double bases. Much appreciated.

The socket can be 6v or 12v, that ia irrelevant. It's the bulb that has voltage.

A spot of solder will keep it from moving. Or JB Weld .....Jim.

Daryl,
I couldn't get the double fixture number to come up on the Stoddard site, so I sourced both the single and double fixtures from Roger Bray.
Some details on this thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=49932&p=355643&hili ... ve#p355643
and a couple more pictures here. I used a razor knife to peel the solder off, and a 3/8" socket drive with my drill press to push the sockets out and reversed the process to press the old and new fixtures in after nickel plating the bases.

Thank you all for the advice! Spencer I was sure that you had a pictorial of this and looked back through your posts but not far enough. Much thanks. :-)
