I've owned two 1956 coupes - Carrera #56083 and sunroof coupe #56724 - I had to sell the sunroof coupe to finance the restoration of 56083 which I sold in 2018 - now I really wish I had kept my sunroof coupe - I just love beehive Porsches!
I think 56724 went to Europe - it was originally Aquamarine Blue with a grey interior and has the V-shaped sunroof. For some reason the 1956 cars just look so right - yours looks fabulous!

Thanks Jack
A 56 Carrera coup is quite a thing! I’m with you on the beehive lights, they change the whole character of the car. I’m so glad we went with the color change back to original. I just can’t wait to get it back from the trim shop now.
Cheers

wow what a fantastic transformation,Mark! Graphite is indeed gorgeous. Local member has a 57 cab in graphite gray. Had a light gray leather interior oiginally but he thought that was 'too much gray' so he went for a red leather interior. The car is spectacular. Starting with the A cars, the "interior door caps" are generally interior color. They are on his 57, same on my 57 coupe (silver on red int, red door caps). AFAIK they were the color of the dash on pre A cars.

Thanks Jules
I’d be interested to see how the red works with graphite. I got a message from my trimmer today to say he has not yet ordered materials so not too late to change my mind!
My silver 356 also had red but it was quite a bright red, I think maybe a more burgundy color would work better?
Original for mine was tan.
Thanks again!

almost at the bottom - graphite 57 cab. it's a burgundy-ish yes. I think bright red would not suit a 356 to be honest. Too flashy??

Note: the door tops are painted the same as the interior, not the color of the car. So if you go with red they (and the covers under the rear side windows) should be red. The idea was to continue the color of the dash pad at the same level throughout the interior of the car.

Wonderful car! Also looks like a red interior. I think I am being swayed..

My old 56 sunroof coupe on the day I bought it with my 1971 911T - I really hadn't planned on buying a third Porsche that day but it was too nice a car to pass up. I had just finished doing a full restoration of the 911 and needed another project.

I have made contact with Roland who was the owner then. He gave me the whole story of the resto then Outlawing it. Lovely guy and a real Porsche addict. I’ve been keeping him appraised of the restoration and have his approval :-)

Looks like Irv did the body work? He did the bare metal restoration and paint on my 912.

Ps - The 356 is looking nice by the way 👍🏽
