Full Electric?, Not so Fast!
I would not lose sleep over the idea that you won't be able to buy gasoline for your 356. Problems associated with EVs are starting to become too obvious to ignore. This article makes some good points and gives hope for the ICE. No wonder Porsche is investing in synthetic gasoline.

Re: Full Electric?, Not so Fast!
Not gonna be my problem. We can leave it up to the millenials to solve. I'm gonna be out of here in the not to distant future. Meanwhile I love my cheap electric golf cart for collecting the mail and taking the trash 600 ft up the driveway. Saves firing up the Subaru outback.
What will stop gasoline vehicles is the cost of gas for the majority of the population. Only rich people will be able to afford it. The rest will be driving around in enclosed golf carts.

If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

My guess is that gasoline should be at least somewhat available for another 30 years. If I am correct, I’d love to live to see it.

The only way that gasoline will become too expensive is if central planning forces the price higher, like right now.

Re: Full Electric?, Not so Fast!
Gasoline price is governed by crude oil price over which control is by global forces. The cost to refine it is almost a constant but subject to energy prices. Gas is the heating source of choice to boil and fractionate the crude. Distribution by pipeline is a large chunk and the final distribution by truck has risen a lot and that will not drop soon. In other countries the taxes are a very large percentage of the price. In the UK it is 50% and here in Kentucky it is 6.5%. Being a Brit I do not complain about the price of gas, I just shop around for the cheapest as I know it is a fungible commodity. I also do not use premium if I can avoid it.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

I'm guessing ICE and EV will co-exist for the remainder of my lifetime, my kids will probably live in an EV dominant world eventually. I'm 47, my kids are 10 and 13.

The watermelons are focused on the end users rather than the suppliers, for reasons not mentioned here. Until supply is assured, the rest is commentary and the watermelons have yet to address that issue.

Re: Full Electric?, Not so Fast!
Since the dawn of history men have made light by heating something to incandescence. Recently a new more efficient method was invented: the light emitting diode, the LED. I have replaced all the lighting in my house and garage with LEDs because they are cheaper, cooler, and require less maintenance. That is how fossle fuels will be replaced. By cheaper-when all costs are considered-alternatives. Probably not wind or solar but nuclear, tide or wave energy. And as that happens, fuel will become more expensive and less available. Maybe I'll put in a home gasoline/diesel storage tank and limit my trips to the range of the fuel tank. But it'll be a while yet.
