Accessories and Judging, non 356

#1 Post by Wes Bender »

I would have posted this under the similar thread on the main forum, but there's no 356 content so it probably belongs here.

Quite a few years ago, the late Norman Nock, who owned a British car shop in Stockton, was invited to show his lovely Austin-Healey 100 at an event. It was to be a display thing solely. On the way to the event, Norman had a flat tire on his right front. He changed wheels and drove to the event. When he parked, he realized that it wouldn't do to have the spare, which was a painted wire wheel, on the car with three other chrome wire wheels. He jacked up the wheel, changed back to the flat tired wheel and then carefully lowered it until the tire looked about right. Put the painted spare back in the spare slot. As the day went on, he was quite happy that no one saw through his little ruse. That was until one gentleman walked up to him and asked him what type of tire he had on the right front that didn't require a valve stem.

Feel free to add your experiences.
Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints.....
