Advice on rubber body kit

#1 Post by Kathe Barnett »

Any thoughts/recommendations on purchasing a complete rubber body kit? I've checked pricing and availability and there's quite a spread. It's for a 59 A and prices for full kit start at $600 and some are double. Stoddard tells me they don't sell kits, just individual items. SMC, for example, states, "We have found some aftermarket seals fit better and are same quality as genuine ones." It seems that a full kit would be a more economical approach, but would appreciate any advice. My shopping list is astronomical, so obviously I'm trying for best value. Thanks!

Yes, Ken, thanks. Intn'l Merc is the least expensive. As tempting as that is, I want to be sure I'm not overlooking something that others may have experience with.

I had a positive experience buying a tunnel cover for my 356 B - quality is great. As far as least expensive I'm not sure as it seems everything that says Porsche or BMW is not cheap!

+1 on int'l mercantile. Excellent quality. Don't spend extra money on 'Genuine Porsche' as it comes from the same manufacturer. They just slap a sticker on it and make you pay 3x the price.

Make sure you get 'A' door seals and not the later style. They do not fit.

Water pumps are for windshield washers only.
