Washer bag wire holder

#1 Post by ScottBerry »

Anyone have a picture or measurements of the wire holder welded under the hood rain gutter the suspends the washer fluid bag for a 1960B t5 coupe? I removed the wire when replacing the front section. I have misplaced the wire and need to replicate and weld it in again. Thanks in advance.

Hi Scott,
This is what I have on my T5 roadster project that is languishing in the barn.
No guarantee its right however. I just dont know if its something one of the PO's cobbled up or factory.
Hope it helps a little.

Hi Scott
Here are a couple of photos that I took a few years ago of my 60 T5.
If you need something a little more precise in details or need the approximate diameter of the wire, then let me know. I could also take more photos.

It was my pleasure, Scott.
I thought it may be useful for others, in the future, if the sketch that I sent privately to you was posted in the forum.

Thanks, this helped me also, did you use a coat hanger, or is it a heavier gauge ?

Picture of design looks much heavier than coat hanger.

Was getting ready to start work on my windshield wiper system and found out I don't have a wire at all. From the pictures it looks like it's on the driver's (LHD) side of the car right beside the gas tank. Is that right?

I didn't have the washer bag either but found an original on Ebay. I have a 61 T5 Cab. and it looks like I'm going to need more parts....

Cool. Always wondered what that bag should hang from. My 356 B T5 notch doesn't have that due to body work on bonnet lid and rain gutter before my time (according tto previous ownder, someone dropped a big rock from an overpass as he was driving, landed right at the base of the driver side windshield, smashing it and denting the trunk - luckily he was unscathed).

Thanks Jon
The history of your car seems to answer Alan's question in post #13 regards position of the washer bag.
I couldn't respond because my car is factory RHD.
It looks like all bags were installed on the left side, regardless of handing of the driver's seat/steering wheel.
