Oil pressure relief spring

#1 Post by Mark Nicholas »

I am about to assemble to engine and got new oil pressure relief springs upper and lower. They seem to be shorter than the originals. Is this just due to them being worn and losing some spring coil and lengthening over time? Thanks for any info, or advice. BTW car is a 63 356B.

Hello Mark
Theses are the specs for the By Pass and Pressure Releif Valves, as in the SPECS Book.
Not easy to find a shop that will test pressure of the springs at the specified lengths.
There seems to be only one new, replacement spring for both purposes.
I always test Valve Springs, I throw away one in eight.
All the Best
David

David - I cannot tell you how many sets of Valve Springs we have fitted (100`s)
They all get checked and we have never had to throw one away - yet!
Iskey Springs - every time for us
