Re: My '57 356A "Barn Find" project
Not as clean as top unfortunately but don’t think that bad either. Doesn’t look like any holes in the floor pan. I am currently stripping off some weird crazy type of undercoating slapped on in the 60’s early 70’s. Once I get it all off I will be able to access if and where repairs are need. Wish me luck!Doug McDonnell wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 9:26 am Welcome Todd If the underside looks as good as the top you found a rare Midwest car. Or maybe it is a previous transplant from somewhere more kind to 356 bodies.

YES! Those cuts seriously weaken the gear. Even the ones that had only one cut have failed over time.
Racers used to think that was a hot set-up; it's not.

start with the small screw that is under the rubber on the front side of the garnish piece.
you should be able to get your finger or a non shart screw drive under the rubber

Thanks Jim I was looking there, then I said to myself “hey dummy (fred sanford lives in my head) try looking from the outside of the car under the door rubber and not from the inside of the door rubber. Looks like a nice find and project! I am looking forward to watching the progression back to a vintage machine,

See my 1957 speedster "backyard find" story in September\October 356registry magazine. I am always looking for an old Porsche to write stories about or interesting stories about an old Porsche to relay for the magazine.

Does anyone know anything about the luggage rack on my car? (Other than it holds luggage, see how I got in front of the smarta$$ remarks LOL)
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks Todd

Todd,
You have an aftermarket rack. Don't know which aftermarket supplier made it. I am sure someone will pitch in with the answer to that one.

Pretty sure it's an AMCO (aftermarket).
