Great work Urban!
I must confess I am using your posts to guide my A restoration. It’s incredible how similar the rust damage is on these cars. My additional issue is the PO prior attempts at repairs. Keep up the good work, I need the reference material!

Re: 1959 Porsche 356A Coupe Restoration
Thanks Robert. The tend to be quite similar in regards of the rust, that is true. Fortunately we did not have too many prior attemts on that car so it makes the work a bit easier. If you need any more specific pictures, let me know.robert moglia wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 7:41 pm Great work Urban!

Re: 1959 Porsche 356A Coupe Restoration
Thanks for sharing the pictures! Your „jig“ for the doors is really interesting. Do I unterstand well that:
-on the outside you welded a square tube with a few points to keep it straight
-inside the frame you push the skin against that tube using all these screws to put it under stress while welding the bottom part of the skin?
Thanks!
Antoine

Antoine, yes you understand correctly, we do that to get as little warping as possible during welding.Puygranier Antoine wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 12:45 am Thanks for sharing the pictures! Your „jig“ for the doors is really interesting. Do I unterstand well that:

Been some time from the last post. The car is almost ready at the metal shop, but from the previous pictures, there still has been a lot of work.

Re: 1959 Porsche 356A Coupe Restoration
You’re doing a fantastic job on this 356A restoration. When interior time comes, I make the proper recreated Reutter Headliner for your car. The material is color matched very light grey with the elongated Diamond hole perforation pattern. Contact me for more info if interested. best/Michael
