Hi,
I purchase the new hood skin from restoration design. Does anyone have experience taking off a damaged skin and replacing it? I would love some guidance if someone out there has experienced.
Thanks in advance.

I recently removed my hood skin. Assuming your old skin will not be saved, you can open up the flange with a narrow putty knife to start, then pliers to bend to 90 degrees. There are 3 or 4 small spot welds under the lower handle area that will have to be removed. I used a tool called The Skinner to bend the new hood flange down, but careful hammer and dolly should also work to create the hem flange. In your case I would not get the flange so tight that you cant shift the outer skin on the frame before a test fit.
I can refer you to pictures that are too large to post here if you pm me.
Good luck

Re: Re-skin hood
Simply grind the folded edge perpendicular to the panel until you separate the two. You will need to grind the spot welds down on the underside to separate the remaining pieces. As long as you don't get too heavy handed you will not overheat or damage the frame in any way.
