David,

As I said in the other thread. Why would you register a 61 car with a 63 plate? Certainly the original black plates but also certainly the second plates your car wore.

Ahh, i read the note on your picture now. Odd. Still, is it titled as a 61?

Eric, the title is for a 1962. Built in 61, sold in 63 and licensed as a 62. Knowing how the DMV works, not at all surprised.

OK, now the interior is complete except for the windshield wiper knob. The yellow seat belts are not stock. Since the belts are a dealer installed option, I opted to go with a fashion color. Points off for originality?

If you want your plates restored, contact Dan Landino in Michigan. He has done several for me and all came out perfect. His contact info can be found by Googling "license plate restorers".

A very beautiful restoration, David.

Read the entire thread as we have an original '61 coupe that's in need of much love and was looking for inspiration as you originally stated you were going for a driver and not a concours car. Wow. You are an artist and thank you so much for all the info and photos. You knocked my own mechanical skills down to next to zero but I'll get up and brush myself off soon enough. Thanks again.

Oh yeah. Forgot to ask. Found this thread by searching for disc brake conversion and I'm not sure you talked about this at all. I only recall rear drum work but perhaps I missed what you did up front. Since you were going the concours route I assume you stayed with drums up front. I like the Zims price compared to Sierra Madre and the guys out of Europe but haven't found much info here yet on doing that work. Child's play for you clearly.

Bill,
Thanks for the kind words. As you can tell, I have a passion for these cars. Luckily, I am married to a woman who let's me do what makes me happy (within reason). I went with the stock drums. There are plenty of threads that discuss the
disc conversions for early cars. I realize the limitations of the drum brakes and would consider a change if this was a car that was going to be driven more. Good luck with your project. Start a thread and let the rest of us know how you are doing.
I am glad to help anyway I can.

Hi folks,

David lives in Vacaville, CA; actually out in the countryside.

I have just read that so far, 50 homes have been burned/destroyed in Vacaville.

I just sent him an email to see how he is doing.

I hope all is well for him; but he may be just too busy to keep us up to date.

Hi folks,

Just heard from David and he is 'still at home - watching progress - ready to move if the winds start up.'

Let's hope he, his family & his cars stay safe.

Thanks Jerry,
Cleaning up around here. We escaped with only a mess. We were evacuated, leaving three cars and everything else behind. Our home was never threatened. The fire and police were heroic. Praises for them. The air quality, now 3 weeks later, has improved. My brother in law lost everything. Over 400 homes and structures were lost. Thanks for your concerns. There is absolutely nothing left to burn for miles. So....our fire fears for the foreseeable future are now put to rest.
Will finish up this project, the notchback, and prepare for the 2021 concours season. Thanks again for your concern.

It has been a few months since I last placed an offering. I am finally getting around to finishing the battery box. Photos are of the finished product.

Beautiful. Trunk mat needs a cut at the fuel vent hose.

Trying to find the metal end to the hose. I know exactly where I should have stored it. Little stuff thanks Vic.
