And Rocky Taylor found early (big) window crank and door handle escutcheons for me at the Lit Meet.

Now if I could figure out how to put the big escutcheon under the door handle...

Harlan - just went through the entire thread from page 1 - terrific job you did and well documented for posterity.
Beautiful car

Thank you, Greg
I wonder what happened to the other WCSTA cars? Particularly the one which won the Stoddard backing?

I believe it was Trevor Gates whose car won the Stoddard package. Trevor has since then started a business in the same little business part as Jack Skaggs doing body repair and restoration on 356 cars. Not sure what the status of his car is, however. He's probably in the boat of working on everyone else's car and never gets to his.
You're right, though - it would be interesting to hear the individual stories on the dozen or so cars that were in that contest.

Unfortunately, the horn ring (which I had chrome plated though Kochs) blocked my view of the instruments :( So I pulled the 400mm repro Nardi off the shelf.

Unfortunately, the hub of unknown origin lacked the horn button removal hole. But with a little help from the milling machine: (The end mill was too short to go all the way through.)

The hole came out in just the right place. :D

Harlan,
Did you also open up the diameter of the horn button hole itself? My understanding was that the Nardis, including the newer repros, could only use the slightly smaller dual function horn button, not the stock button. I think yours looks pretty great with the stock button in there and would like to do the same to mine.

Thanks for any thoughts,
-Greg

Greg,
No, in fact the hole is a few thou larger in diameter than it needs to be. I put a thin brass shim there. I don't remember where this hub came from. I bought this Nardi for the Carrera. A few years ago, I decided to get one of the original 415mm for that car and I think I just mounted the new Nardi to the existing hub. That one takes the same 356 stock horn button. Anyway, I now have 2 A Nardis each with the same horn button. They are single function so no headlight flasher function.

Harlan, did Nardi make a dual function button for their steering wheels?

Dave,
I don't know and I don't know much about Nardi steering wheels. Why not ask this question in a new thread?

I had a friend who had one. It had a small separate round button in the center surrounded by the outer button. I might have a pic of it somewhere as I had sent it to Bruce Crawford for his opinion.
