2021 GA Mountain Party - Helen Six is on!

#1 Post by George Bryan »

Everytime we say that was the last one, never again, we get chided and egged on to do it again. Leonard and I and the band got back together to throw another event, so the Southern 356 Drive 2021, Helen 6, is on.

We will hold our event again in Helen GA, with rallye headquarters on gorgeous state highway 356, from Thursday September 9th to Sunday September 12th. This is a driving event with laid a back venue in the beautiful GA mountains. Enjoy live entertainment nightly, a loaded goodie bag, at leisure driving on roads our cars were designed for, bonfires, eating and drinking hospitality 24/7 & a high quality shirt to spill it on, brat night, outings to include winery tour, tail of the dragon, old car city, moonshine run, and more adventure and local color, Saturday pig roast, swap meet, technical presentations, photo safari, door prizes, fun awards, auction, and of course, the spirited Sunday Helen 100Km driving event ending in a catered lunch at a great place for 5 star meal. Moreover, we are reasonably priced, you get a lot for your money, and this year, as always, at event closeout, we will give a donation to the American Cancer Society.

This year, for a lot of reasons, all registration will be done on line. The website will go live in a month or so; stand by and check this thread for updates. Limited to 150 people but we always sell out fast. We dont need no stinkin Covid, but we have clean cabins and are mostly outdoors over a large area and attendees should practice reasonable care...but maybe by then its all in the rear view mirror anyhow.

Your hosts, George & Carol, Leonard & Sherry, Rudy & Judy, John & Lois, Daryle & Becky, Pete, Gordy, & Glen & Mary.

Mark, we just finished beta testing our registration platform. Works great. Some of you may recognize it, same club reg used by PCA.

Getting away from old skool think and process. Even the most computer challenged can navigate registration and there is a 24/7 help desk available. I recommend planners of regional and local events look it over. A side benefit is records and reports that can be generated of the type we used to fat finger. Yes, the event pays a fee for each registrant but we felt it was well worth it. The link will be as always part of our website, hosted this year by the Southern Owner Group.

Simply log on, fill in the blanks, pay, get instant confirmation, done. Takes &3 mins. We expect to do a larger number control group test and site review before we open for business. Some of you will be contacted so we can make sure what we set up works on a larger scale.

We expect to begin registration 1 April or maybe before as Jerry Seinfeld needs to lock his calendar.

We are always asking for sponsor help and we appreciate your support. Operators are standing by to accept sponsor calls. Contact, Pete Bartelli.

Will keep y’all posted. Be there or don't come.

Cheers, George

George, you and your gang are an inspiration! SIX fantastic events! While others whine about a lack of events they need only look your way for inspiration and a superb template for putting on similar events in their region. Clubs in FL and CA do some of these too. Sorry if I missed some.

We need to have more of these regional events that are less complicated to organize and bring the fun closer to the attendees. We need volunteers to put these together everywhere. There is flexibility on how complex you make the regional events. There are ways to reduce the financial liability as an organizer such as doing business with family owned lodges instead of mega-corporations. Stop the whining and start the planning.

George and team, thanks for organizing this event again. Kelly and I have really enjoyed it the 4 times we've attended! Some people might worry its the same weekend as the West Coast Holiday, but I think it's fun that there are events on both coasts happening at the same time.

Anyone considering planning an event - the Trustees have updated the support policy to provide a path to plan events considering COVID-19 restrictions. It's now up on the website.

Thanks Cliff and Michael.

To contact Pete for sponsor information, he can be reached at peterbartelli@hotmail.com

Those who attended know the mountain party is a full blown holiday just outdoors mostly. Lot of activity. Potential organizers, you can make it simple or have a few more moving parts. See if a couple area 356 clubs can get together to do more.

I look forward to the trustees supporting us as before, and honestly, so far, its easier to get help than EVER before under the new board and leadership. I appreciate that Michael & Cliff recognize, for the first time in club leadership, that regional and other local events are not threats to the holiday “ thats the way we always did it” template for club activity.

Ill be happy to help anyone thinking about a regional type event. Spent a lot of time helping the NE Treffen group who had a great venue planned... but like so many things it got covid derailed. Hope you guys take another run at it.

Take the registry up on the offer of some sponsor $ but moreover the insurance. The new team in charge wants to help but not intervene or try to control or heap rules on or tie way too many conditions to get support. Refreshing!

Cheers,
George

Registration will open April 1 and close on April 30.

For the first time, 100% of the registration process is now done on line. You will be able to register with your iPhone, iPad, laptop, or desktop, whichever you prefer.

We have had many inquiries about the event and we are hoping to see a lot of first time attendees. Here is our website link for you to see what we’re up to for the event. Attendance is capped at 150 people total. We average 78 cars per event. Don’t snooze on April 1 if you plan to attend, we sell out very quickly. We’re hoping the online registration will facilitate even faster results.

Here is the link to our 2021 GA Mountain Party- Southern 356 Drive website. Feel free to navigate the site and learn about the event. The actual registration pages are locked and will not be unlocked until 1 April. https://southavenuespeedshop.com/local- ... 356-drive/

If you do not wish to see the Speedshop background while scrolling through the pages, note the pop up box at the top right of our event pages, to the left of the scroll bar; click on it and get a full page view.

Thanks all, see you in Helen. Be there or don’t come.

Event registration pages will be unlocked and open after midnight, Central Time (1AM Eastern Standard Time), on 1 April. We will re-lock them when event capacity of 150 is reached. Don’t snooze, REGISTER NOW.

1. There are two websites used, but it’s transparent to you. One is ours hosted by South Avenue Speed Shop, please read it for all event information; and the other is clubregistration.net, where you actually register.

Proceed to our website link posted below in number 4 below and get registered…OR…if uncertain how to navigate the web, click this link to open a one minute visual you tube video we prepared showing you the screen by screen process to the clubregistration site to register. https://youtu.be/aMs9GxE0-28

2. If you ARE a clubregistration site member, log in with your clubregistration user name and password. If you don’t remember it, you will have to create a new account or contact them to get your user name/password.

3. If you ARE NOT a clubregistration site member, then you must create a NEW ACCOUNT with them to log in. Just follow the steps & fill in the blanks.

a. Once logged in, go to the 2021 Southern Drive Event registration page. Have your car license plate number, payment method, and Registry member number handy, as they are necessary to register.

b. If you have 2 attending make sure you click on 2 registrants. Fill out the requested fields for the event names, registry number, shirt sizes etc. Click on the event options you want such as Glen Ella, Wolf Mountain, event badge, etc. It automatically totals & you pay right then with Apple pay, AMEX/MC/VISA, or Square. You get instant confirmation. A few minutes max and you are registered…DONE…logout.

c. Then arrange your cabin/lodging; you need no authorization from us to get a cabin at Tanglewood, as in the past.

4. Here is the link to our 2021 GA Mountain Party-Southern 356 drive website for event information and registration.
https://southavenuespeedshop.com/local- ... 356-drive/

5. COVID NOTICE AND WARNING: There is the distinct possibility that present guidelines about Covid may not be in effect at event time. Therefore, we will publish guidelines for y’all nearer the September event dates. Regardless, unless there is a government imposed lockdown/do not travel policy, this event will go on as scheduled. Our Covid points of contact are our registrars. They will monitor the GA DPH site, and ensure we are as compliant as possible with the guidelines in effect at event start. We’re all hoping this whole Covid mess is in our rear view mirror by September. If not, we will take appropriate precautions and you will be advised of the guidelines.

6. Thanks everyone, see you in Helen. Be there or don’t come.

Morning George!

Noticed the registration opens at 12am Central time, or 1am EST. Probably not many of us are up that late anyways, but wanted to mention it for those who are on the EST.

Hi Mark. Correct observation as club reg is based in TX. We didnt think anyone would set their alarm to be up 1 min after 12 EST :D . We just wanted to make sure the doors were open when folks started stirring for the day. I have edited the post for clarification. Thanks. Hope to see you at the event. All the best, George

Hi all. If you have registered and realized you made an error on which events you want to do, or put in the wrong shirt size, please contact our registrars. For many good reasons, individuals cannot edit their input once paid and confirmed; any changes must be done by the registrars.

Notify one of them by email with your requested change, they will make your change, and get back to you. So, if, for example, you want to add a co-registrant, you will have to have all the information for them name, shirts sizes etc to send to the registrar, then pay for the added person and options chosen for them once the changes are made by the registrar. Once changed, you then go back into clubreg and the due amount, if any, is posted for you to pay.

The event registrars are: Rudy Bernhard, rudy.bernhard@comcast.net, and Leonard Scrantz, lsqndt@aol.com It is posted on both club reg and our site. They are available by email for any questions you may have.

Thanks, George

Thank you for making the registration & payment online. Haven't owned a checkbook in 10 plus years and the new registration process was quick & easy. See everyone in September, if not sooner!
