Got this stuff in a stash recently, guy had several Carreras over the years. I know one piece looks Carrera 2, any ideas on the other?

The aircleaners I think are for the early 4 hole solex.

Correct on the air cleaners.

Engine compartment breather not just for Carrera 2, goes back to 1959.

The oval grey colored can is not factory, homemade for something.

Yep, the rusty one is called the cows udder. It replaces the slant tube breather on 547s and early 692s. I run 547s in my '59 replacing the slant tube with a short section and running a hose up to the cows udder. One of the 3 tubes is the engine breather, it goes to the top. another is the road draft tube which also goes to the top. The third is a drain back to the oil tank. I wouldn't use that rusty cows udder until I had opened it up and thoroughly cleaned the inside. Might be easier to just make a new one.

The air cleaners are for the early short sand cast Solexs. According to Chuck Forge, these carbs had a huge flat spot around 3,000 RPM (which he had a fix for) When I get around to it, I'm going to run a pair of these on a pushrod engine, and see if I can duplicate his fix.

Carrera oil breathers are already made.

They also do an aluminium version for the same price.
Yet again PRS has those hard to find parts.......

Joris,
I have never seen that location for the generator ground before. On mine there's a bolt into the aluminum housing about where it is on the generator. Failing that, I think Porsche would have used one of the aluminum to housing screws rather than using the sheet metal for the ground.

I have some of those rock screeners too, but I intend to modify them to take either Piper X foam inserts, or K & N inserts if I get around to running them. (For track use, I run the velocity stacks, and I hate the thought of running those engines without velocity stacks.)

Harlan,

The early cars had the generator ground on the shroud before they moved it to the gen stand.

Joris,
Apparently the relay ground was moved from the fan shroud location, to the edge of the support ring, to the middle of the ring. There is a picture of the ring edge location at the end of the "The Most Important Car in South America" thread. Here's a picture of the 692/2 location:

This 692/2 was a 12 V system: 100 mm generator, and 12 V starter with a 6 V pinnion gear.

It is easy to guess why the ground position changed: The early fan shroud location is the nearest flat surface. Later on they milled a flat on one of the ring locations. And finally they moved it to almost where it was on the pushrod cars. I'm curious to know where the ground is on the Spyders. Same places?

Early 1956 location. Wonder why they moved it to the shroud in 1957? Are you confident in that Joris?

And a 1959 692/2. With a different location than yours Harlan.

Could any of these locations be not original?
