Steel pre a intake for Solex 40 Pbic

#1 Post by Matt Lantz »

I got a set of Solex 40 Pbic carburetors and steel manifolds recently. I noticed that the steel manifolds were not completely matching in the way they were made. One has large gas welds and the other has fine brazing. I have seen the large gas weld style before but have not seen the fine brazing style. Does anyone know if the fine brazing is a later version, reproduction, or what the story is on them?

Porsche (or their supplier) made them both ways. It's not clear one is earlier or later.

Porsche used a lot of different manufacturers and I would `suggest` that this is an example of it

Thank you for the feedback.

If anyone wants to trade to make a matched set please let me know.

Interesting
I just checked my manifolds which I Know are not a matched set (I had to buy one), and they are exactly the same as your Matt, so I have the same challenge as you.
We could swap and left for a right , but we then would have to change over the balance pipe outlet !

This is funny. Well I would hope that means there a few more mismatched sets out there we could swap with. I will probably just run this set. My motor is still being rebuilt and I would guess it will be at least until the end of the year before it's done.

I am still on the fence weather I should run the 40 PBICs or the 32 PBJs.
