James - do you know, will all early Speedsters be of the later type fuse box?

Greg

The first 200 Speedsters were equipped with a fuse block with the center-bolt cover, and probably the next 100 to 200 cars, as well.
Even after the new fuse block was introduced in 1955, the Speedster probably continued to get the old version until inventory was depleted.

Here is another variation of the center-bolt fuse cover labels. This original cover is from a late-December 1954 car.
Unfortunately, two labels are missing. Anyone in the group have an early 1955 P-356 with its original center-bolt fuse block?
Does the fuse cover in your car have English language labels like this??

That appears to be this wiring config.

I was talking to someone today about a diagram they ordered for a Dec 54 car, and it has this later style fusebox too, so the change to the new fuse box must have happened before the March 55 date we discuss above.

So looking more carefully through my photos, it appears that there were the following fuse boxes:

#1 center screw, ganged 1-3-3-1-2-2, short fuse on #2, used through at least after the change to non-cloth wire insulation, 1950 through 1954

#2 center screw, ganged 1-3-2-2-2-2, no short fuse, used 1954 and early 1955

#3 offset screw, ganged 1-3-2-2-2-2, no shohrt fuse, used early 1955 onward

I didn't actually know about #2 above. Anybody know when the switch from #1 to #2 happened? It must have been sometime in 1954. And it probably corresponds with some change in the label as well.

For completeness, here's #1 (in late form with plastic-insulated wires)
