Wipers for 52

#1 Post by Mark Todorovich »

Not sure what wipers are correct for bent window 52 or where they park. The ones we took off were just like the ones on 63. Are these correct? If so I need to shorten. Both ends have a bend . Which side should I shorten. Punch list very small after this.

Mark

Here's a period photo of a 1953 P-356 car - - - same wiper arm arrangement as on your car.

The 1950 to mid-1954 wipers had round stems, like the ~1952 VW ones, but were sized and bent differently than the VW items.

Both Bosch and SWF were suppliers for this size wiper. They were polished aluminum and chrome.

I had to cut the arm on my pickle fork to fit. I left one of the set screws loose as I carried the wiper assembly from garage to basement shop. It came out, lots of looking no finding.
It’s a 6. Any available?

Chances are you can get an Allen set screw easily at a good hardware store. Getting the slotted style may mean you and a hacksaw and file.

Tom, the bases are the same, but arms and blades are different. Porsche had longer blades and arms that were bent differently. And the Porsche items were chrome.

I have the correct ribbed ones for my 54 Coupe, but they need refurbishing. What type of finish did these have?
