Hi. hope someone can help
Collecting parts to assemble my 55 coupe
I have 2 slightly different shaped front door Glasses. the shape is different by about 10mm - see last Photo (one is new old stock 64454210101)
Parts cat lists
Pre-A coupe
35657201A for Left
35657202A for right
and then for 356A
64454210101 (same as the one I have of new old stock)
However Stoddart list Pre-A and 356A as the same ?
are the windows slightly different , and why is there a left and right in Pre-A

Rex: Based on the talk about door frames, it appears that the Pre-A and early A frames were the same (so glass too?). See Jim's response sixth one down.

The glass with the larger logos and sparser info is period-correct for your car. Not necessarily original to your car, but could be. The other is a later reproduction or from a later car. 1955 356 and 1956 356A door glass is the same.
The side windows are tempered safety glass (AS-2), which means it cannot be trimmed/ground after tempering. It will shatter. So best to make sure you have 2 matching pieces and that furthermore they fit your chromed brass door window frames.

James,
I have had good luck wet sanding small, <1/8" chips, smooth on the edges of side windows. I think the trick is not to heat the glass, so I wouldn't try power sanding, but rather to my surprise, small chips and scratches can be removed.
