1300 super

After 30 plus years I finally acquired an original pre a 1300 super script for my collection . Never really realized how rare the 1300 super was until today when i looked up the pre a production #s on it only 134 pre a 1300supers compared to the 1998 pre a 1500 supers motors . i did a quick google image search on the script and wasn't even able to find a picture of a 1300 super. So thought I would share a few .

Very nice piece Ned - probably more rare than you've indicated. According to the parts manual, the hollow rivet badges were replaced with solid rivet badges in late '53, so your badge could be one of only seventeen (type 589 engines built in 1953). Could, of course, be a few more than seventeen as '53 production ran over into early '54, but nonetheless a great find!

cliff love your car such a great look , must be a blast to drive . Spencer I was wondering about the sold stud for the pre a aluminum 1300s. seeing as there was such a small run of the pre a 1300 super motors. I would be curious if Porsche actually made a sold stud aluminum 1300s script. or just had enough of old stock hollow to make it through to 1956 when they changed to gold i have seen early replica 1300s scripts with a sold stud but never an original aluminum sold stud super script . Cliff I'm assuming your script is a hollow stud? as it looks correct. If its a sold stud that answers my question.
i do have a few 356a 1300s gold plated brass scripts in my collection . i always thought these 1300s 356a scripts were made by a different manufacture as the font for the super are different than both the 1500 and the 1600 super fonts early and later .

Hi Ned,
I no longer own that car. It resides in Austin TX now. I can't remember if the studs were hollow or solid. I can't even remember who sold the badge to me but a search in Talk may find the name of the person that responded to my search.
