Yes; there is a version that is more full. What is your chassis number?

Re: Door strike
You have the early wide brass latch so you need the early version of the door striker 356.52.206

Stefan
Here are the ones I bought for my early car

Its possible you just got a part that wasn’t manufactured correctly. If you need any measurements of the strikers I have let me know.

Stefan
I encountered the same problem with new replacement striker plates from everyone's favorite supplier.
Since the striker plate is plastic, it was easy to cut away the excess and custom fit it to the latch.
I used a bandsaw, but the job could be done with hand tools.

Re: Door strike
I think Brad's drawing above shows the wrong changeover dates for the transition from the first type of latch to the 2nd type.
The first latch, as shown above in Stefan's photos was used 1950 through coupe 53298 and cabriolet 60780. The striker had part number 356.52.206.
The 2nd type was used after that had part number 356.52.206A.
This is recorded in the 1955 parts book and confirmed by existing cars. This change from the large brass latch to small one happened in April 1955.
That is, unless the above change is reflect in has 2nd and 3rd drawings. Which now that I'm looking closely, is probably the case.

Re: Door strike
That's the model applicaiton information I had "way back in the day". We still make those strikers with those measurements.
