Tom I reproduce 3 type of bows for speedsters.
PreA , Low Bow and High Bow.
PreA’s are grey the others tan
First 200 seems to be Grey.

Tom
As Robert pointed out there were two paint colors for the early Speedster top frames. The intent was to make the bow color compliment the interior color of the canvas top material. The original black top material had a gray lining, while beige tops had a tan lining. German black canvas top material with gray backing is NLA - - - only black with tan lining is available today. Your Speedster originally had a black top so you can decide what looks best. Some folks match the frame color to the steering wheel and knob color, which could be gray or tan depending on the upholstery color. Do you know the original seat color for your car? Black, or red ??

The practice of stamping serial numbers on the Speedster top frame was discontinued sometime around chassis 80400, when the Version 2 frame was introduced. For a pre-A Speedster with black upholstery, the top frame originally was painted grey to compliment the grey-colored lining on the black canvas top.

so i should have version 2. It is in grey paint.
Will take a closer look as my top looks to be a high bow but is perhaps a version 2
