Parking brake cables

#1 Post by Tony Proasi »

Guys does anyone know if the parking brake cables are the same for cast iron(VW) drums and the later aluminum drums? Stoddard shows only one cable fitting a Pre A trying to figure out if they will work or do I need try to restore my originals.

Thanks
Tony

Replying to my own post hopefully this will help someone in the future. The cast iron drum cars use a different cable the overall length of the cable is the same but the sheath is about 2.5 inches longer on the VW drum cars so you run out of adjustment.

Cool Tony. Are those identical to the VW cables from 1952?

I don't think so but I will pull out the cables for my ‘53 beetle to double check.

VW are much longer, completely different. On the splits you can use the the pre A, used until 55. A/B are to short
