356 42 020 is what I used on my '52 which was used on the aluminum drum cars so it should work great on an iron drum Pre A. The one in your photo shows a raw iron master which in my experience would indicate a cheap aftermarket VW master. I even used the 356 one on my '53 beetle because of the quality of the VW parts is so poor anymore. 113 611 021 C Is correct for a 50-64 VW cars the bus had a different number

All the VW beetle single circuit master cylinders were 19 mm, not sure about the transporter size.
