I have three cars resting on these. Totally eliminates flat spots.

Albert,

I’m going to order a set of the Heidenau 16x5.00-5.25 do you recommend inner tubes for these also?

Thanks
Alex

Price is a bit tough but is worth.
Just threw again a set of almost new Firestone whitewalls on the rubbish container. Dangerous tire specially for a some hundred thousand dollars car!
A 60 mph beetle trailer queen may be the target.

Alex
Search for tubes with the old-school TR-15 rubber valve stem. Today, the smaller TR-13 valve stem is more common but requires a plastic bushing to fill the hole in the rim when used with a 356 wheel.

Also, please share your experience getting a set of Heidenau 16" tires from Germany

Always use tubes on 3.25" wide rims. There is not enough 'meat' to seat the tire properly. It may get pressed off the rim bead when cornering.

Don and Jules
Huge thanks for the tire info and the tip around the valve stems! I’ll report back on how I get on with sourcing/shipping a set to US

All the best
Alex

All, so I’ve got a quote for the Heidenau tires, I was searching for the 16 x 5.00-5.25 as recommended here, but quote came back for “ Heidenau P29 5.00-16 76P TT”. So decoding this I get:

P29 = assume this must just be the manufacturers model number?
16 = 16” wheel
5.00 = 5” tire section
76P (im assuming 880lbs load rating and 94mph speed rating?)
TT = Tube Type

I’m assuming this is the same spec and size tires, but wanted to check? Anyone familiar with the older tire codes etc?

That data matches the info posted on the company's website.
https://en.reifenwerk-heidenau.com/arti ... tm?lang=en
Their 5.00-16 tire diameter is 677mm, which is close to Porsche's OEM spec 670mm.

So I wanted to update, on a very positive note! Every now and then you do business with a company and its people that surpass your expectations in every way!! Huge shout out to WW Cycles in Germany www.wwag.com . I’ve been looking to get a set of Heidenau 5 x 16 tires for a while. Not easy to find in the US but a google search turned up WW Cycles in Germany as a main dealer. I checked their website and submitted a question about tires and inner tubes and received a very detailed technical reply in a few hours. I ordered the tires and tubes with correct wide valve on Friday and they arrived from Germany to USA on the following Monday! (3 days and next business day!!!) Significantly cheaper than another option I found in the US and shipping very reasonable and super fast!! So I can strongly recommend WWW.wwag.com

Thought I’d post a couple of pics of the Heidenau tires fitted and on the car. Not driven with them yet as still need to refit motor and finish brakes etc.

Also the tires were easy to install by hand, I used some talc on the inner tubes and tire levers to pop the bead over the lip. Left the tires in the sun to warm them up first and very easy to fit, just watch you don't pinch the tube when fitting. Also don't forget to line up the balance ‘dots’ with the valve stem. Will get them balanced once the car is on the road.
