Mark, wheel color is body color on almost every pre-A. Some exceptions on the earliest 4-digit splits and on some of the mid-1954 to early 1955 cars, which had 2-tone wheels. And of course Speedsters.

These are my Heidenaus mounted. It took about 10 days to get . Mototire USA got them and included mounting. The correct tubes were expensive (25 each). He didn’t have a wide five adapter for balancing machine ,but said if anyone else ordered he would get one.
Reid Vann balanced.
It will probably be another month before I am driving, I found a519 that we are going through which delayed everything a little.

The tires are all mounted and look great. I took them out to the shop that has the car. They fit perfectly in the left rear fender. Next step is how they drive , next month maybe.

I have an April 52 wheel that I used paint thinner to remove the primer to better read the stampings and a color appeared that seems to match the gray steering wheel color.

The grey is probably Modergrau, a common exterior color 1952 to 1953.

"Are tubes required for radials like the Auburn / Michelin 5.50x16?"
For the Michelin 5.50 x 16 - Yes
The Southerrn CA (Longbeach) Michelin Dealer specified / sold me 5.75-16 JC.WBR Tubes with TR13 valve stems.
Others have said TR-15 are required but these mounted up just fine.
