Re: Heater Box’s and Tin Delete
Crazy phone cameras can cause some strange shots. I had to look 2 or 3 times to understand.

I studied the picture, it is strange how the cylinders don’t show at all as if the heads are attached directly to the case. Obviously you have cylinders.

Re: Heater Box’s and Tin Delete
The car is not on the lift anymore so it wasn’t as easy to get a good picture but here are the deflectors.

Re: Heater Box’s and Tin Delete
Seeing is believing!
The oil leaks are from the head "bolt" o-rings. Often that is caused by forgetting to use a washer under the short version "bolt". That will crush the o-ring so forcefully that the o-ring "explodes" and no longer seals. Conversely, if two washers are used, the o-ring is not compressed and does not seal. Also, any incorrect "bolt" and washer combination causes problems with the mounting and alignment of the rocker assembly.
Those problems can be fixed with the engine in the car.

Re: Heater Box’s and Tin Delete
Thanks for the info and the good news that I don’t have to pull this engine again Cliff.
By the way Cliff. This video is just for you. A couple of your favorite cars...if I remember correctly. The SS belongs to a friend.

1600 and disc brakes, just the way I like them! It sounds like the engine is modified, light flywheel and higher compression. Beautiful color!

That’s impressive and accurate. Engine was just rebuilt by GTM and sons in Greenville. Still under the break in mileage unfortunately. Looking forward to seeing it stretch it’s legs. That is a beautiful color.

Re: Heater Box’s and Tin Delete
It would seem that adding the Euro tin as the P factory did would aid in more uniform cooling. Hard to find, no doubt but was designed to direct the air around the heads and cylinders to a lesser degree when Porsche added the euro heater boxes and dropped the flappers which served a similar purpose.

Re: Heater Box’s and Tin Delete
Numbers 3 and 4 in diagram - similar parts on the other side.
One piece is used on both sides - there is a slight change in the screw location on the other so there are two for this case. Looks like the same stamping but has the screw part welded in by hand.

Here's a close up of what I am trying to explain above - slight variation of the screw hole to the same stamping.
