Hi Jim,
You aren't the first guy to tell me you like the Cookie Cutters better on the car than the 67S style 6" Fuchs so there must be something to it. I've still got the tires mounted on the Cookies so I can switch back and forth. I'm a bit on the fence myself and still looking for that "perfect" wheel look. R.

I sold a set of cookie cutters to a fellow 356 owner in western Canada. He painted the centers and sent me a pic of the car with the cookie cutters on his car. They looked so damn good I regretted selling them!
One really big advantage was the shipping to Canada was pretty cheap because they were so light.

Hi all. I've gone through every post and curious what your tire size recommendations would be for 15x5.5 deep Fuchs wheels on a 64 356C. I'd like to go with a 65 series tire for a bit more tire patch. I copied a comparison chart for 185-65-15 v 195-65-15 and though the differences are miniscule would like to hear your thoughts.
Thanks, Ed
185-65-15 195-65-15 Difference
Diameter inches (mm) 24.47 (621.5) 24.98 (634.5) 0.51 (13) 2.1%
Width inches (mm) 7.28 (185) 7.68 (195) 0.39 (10) 5.4%
Circum. inches (mm) 76.87 (1952.5) 78.48 (1993.34) 1.61 (40.84) 2.1%
Sidewall Height inches (mm) 4.73 (120.25) 4.99 (126.75) 0.26 (6.5) 5.4%
Revolutions per mile (km) 824.25 (512.16) 807.36 (501.67) -16.89 (-10.49) -2%
Here's a pic when I got the car as is running 14x5.5 Fuchs on 205-60-14 tires! I then found a set of 15x4.5 steelies from Adam that I had powdercoated and running the Vred Sprint Classics.
Thanks, Ed

Re: Non-stock wheels on your 356? Post a pic!
Here is a unique non-stock wheel set-up.
These wheels have been on the car since 1970. ET mags, with uni-lug nuts. 14's on front, 15's on the rear. Restored with new uni-lug washers and nuts.
Also has original ANSA dual exhaust. This is how the car was in 1970.....before anyone even said the word "outlaw".
After 5 years of mechanical work, she is back on the road, a time capsule ride to the past.

Martin,
Yes, no issues. Have heard old-timers stories about uni-lug problems....trueness and coming loose......but all were on larger heavier cars.
These wheels have been on car for 40 years and thousands of miles.

Brian, did you get custom unilug washers? It looks like 5” is the closest standard circle to your 5.12” (130 mm) circle.

Took the time to look at 23 pages. I’m left with the opinion that a 356 is best when when Outlawed but perhaps the stock wheels really work the best aesthetically for these cars.

Martin,
Re-machined Gorilla lug nuts and washers from Summit (GOR-73147 & GOR-79905C) for proper circle and shank fit into wheel.
