4 Hole Pulley Plating

I just got finished cleaning up the 4 hole pulley for my '55 and as I was media blasting it, the old plating came off like chrome, not zinc or cad. Were these pulleys flash chrome plated. The finish before I tool it off was a dull silver not unlike that found on tool kit wrenches.

Lots of us reading your post, Jim, but no answers. I can only speculate the pulley was zinc/galvanized and some sort of interaction between that plating and the iron in the pulley caused flaking. I've had my pulleys cad-plated.

I did a gentle bead blasting of mine.. nothing flaked off..
