Correct shape of early oil breather tube
I’m rebuilding and restoring my 1600 normal 1960. Hard to know at times what is correct as original or modified or damaged during it’s life. Question: the end of the breather can tube should it be crimped as shown in the photo or should it be a round tube? Second question should the bend of tube in the middle be linked - seems odd that it is. Feedback appreciated.

Re: Correct shape of early oil breather tube
Never seen an end pinched like that. The kink in the middle is from dragging the engine on a floor and catching the end, thereby kinking it at the engine tin.

Thanks for the conformation and likely contributing factor of dragging engine.

It looks like your dipstick has quite a bend also.

And I repeat. 356 dipsticks did NOT come bent! They got bent by careless engine installers. Straighten it out, and maybe leave it out when installing the engine.

This probably doesn't need clarification, but just in case, Vic means "during" engine installation. Then put it in.
