Pre A Ignition Key

#1 Post by Jim Wayman »

There is a listing on Ebay for a Pre A ignition switch with key. The key is one I have never seen before. It has a square body with "Porsche" in a diagonal across it. On the reverse it is stamped 1D 544. and has the letters D & M formed into the key. Anyone run across this before?

Looks like someone has used a lug nut lock key from a 80's 911.

All of the locking lug nuts I have seen for Porsche are the kind with serrations that require a corresponding socket to loosen or tighten them. Haven't seen one with a keyhole. Do you have a picture of the kind you are considering?

Thank you. Looks like there is a match between the lug nut key blank and the pre A key blank.

Jim, it's actually DOM, one of several long-time suppliers of locks & keys to Porsche.
Most 70s Porsche ignition keys were DOM, but not pre-A keys as far as I know, and certainly not that key.

+1 on what Jon said. That is not a pre A key.
