Gas Tank Cleaning

#1 Post by Jim Wayman »

A while ago there was someone in the San Diego area looking for a source for cleaning out their gas tank. I just came across Advanced Radiator in Temecula that does a great job and will put a coating on the inside if you want. Reasonable prices too.

Hi Jim. That was me asking the question. I've purchased a new tank (later model) but would be happy to be able to use the original. I'll give them a call. Did you get the coating on the inside as well as cleaning? Much thanks.

Daryl

I picked up the tank this morning. They coated the inside and primed the outside. Make sure to specify that you don't want any holes drilled to drain the tank from the hot tank and that you want the vent clear. I also specified that I didn't want the tank painted - their normal procedure is to paint it black. During the process, they also pressure tested it for leaks - none. Total cost was $248.

Thanks Jim! I appreciate you finding a shop to do this and for the instructions. Any reason in particular for not having them paint your tank black?

I wanted to paint the tank the correct shade of Porsche black, not just some generic black.

That's what I figured. What is the correct Porsche black and is it available from our vendors? That's my last question lol! Thank you for your help. :-)

I don't know if it is available at a satisfactory match. I had some mixed up to match specially.

Hokay thanks. I'm happy to have the opportunity to save the original tank. :-)
