history of 1960 356 B

#1 Post by Luke Murray »

Looking for help on My cars history and would appreciate any info or ideas. Body no is 109115 engine is 75003(not original from my research) tranny 99 741 ' 0. All from same vintage Sept 1959. Marco says original engine is 600511 wondering if tranny matches that engine or the engine I have? I'm new to the registry have had the car for years bought in Jamestown Colorado in 1986 Colorado title says my seller purchased 08/24/85 previous title 07E689775 his title 07M 209054 (control no F0921849).
Any ideas on who and or where i can get info on the car. Curious about Kardex. Thanks Luke M

Luke, welcome! As far as the Kardex, there are a few people that can obtain an electronic copy for you. Don't bother with the new Certificate of Authenticity or whatever Porsche is calling it these days. Inferior compared to a Kardex. The Kardex will give you the dates of build and delivery, first owner's name, engine, transaxle and key numbers, original paint and upholstery colors and options if any and lots more info. However, I have seen Kardexes of early cars slim on info however, the one for my '63 has a lot of info.

Do a search on our site for "obtaining a Kardex" or others may send you info via a PM.

I believe the "07" prefix on the title indicates it was issued in Boulder County.

The "99" on the transaxle indicates it was assembled in September 1959. There should be a 5-digit number in the 32XXX range somewhere on the case, probably on the bottom, and hidden behind congealed 90 wt.

Luke I think you can obtain a Kardex from Marco. If not David Pateman is my source. I can email you his contact info if needed or you can email him through the Registry.

G’Day Luke,

I have a mostly original kardex matching T5 ‘60 Coupe body number 109616
I can check the trans number over the weekend but think from memory it’s 33246 it’s a single rubber doughnut mount type.
I also got an original kardex copy through D. Pateman highly recommend you get one while you still can. Mine was delivered in Sept ‘59 to Jacksonville Florida for the first owner in California. Then over the years/owners It migrated north to Washington State. It’s now living a much loved life down under in Australia.

Out of curiosity Does yours happen to have a power socket/outlet on the underside of the dash panel Below the ignition key area?

Kind regards,
Brendan

Search for David Pateman. He can get one for you.
