Auxiliary equipment socket

#1 Post by Terry Thomann »

My 1960 356B Coupe has what the driver's manual calls a "Socket for auxiliary equipment" under the dash to the left of the steering column. Can anyone tell me where I can get a male plug that fits this socket? I have an emergency light that I would like to plug into this socket. Anyone have any pictures of auxiliary equipment that could be plugged into this socket, please post them or send them to me via email civilwarlife@yahoo.com
Thanks so much

Terry, take an hour or two and read through Charlies site, you may find what you are looking for.

Is this the trouble light you have, Terry? Note the male plug.

That is not the one I have but it is very desirable. I have the Ender's Egg light. I would like to put a plug like this one if I can find one.

Thanks

Let me check my stash, Terry. I might have one. Also check on The Samba. I've seen them there from time to time.

Terry: search eBay: Bosch accessory light power plug. There is one listed. Other options would be a cigarette lighter socket plug or the Blue Tooth adapter from Sierra Madre. The adapter has the correct plug.

UPDATE: Check Summit Racing. Under $10.00!

Terry

That is a DIN standard electrical socket. They are still made, BMW uses them on motorcycles. eBay and Amazon are full of them. Hella and Bosch both make them.

Thanks to all. I have found one on ebay for $49,00. This is a reasonable price. I will also look in the Summit catalog. My Enders Egg restoration is coming along nicely. It was missing a magnet. Found it and the lens in China (ugh) I need to make a new cord. This plug will really fill the bill.

Regards
Terry

Sounds like you got what you were looking for Terry. I got a couple from Zim’s years ago and use it to plug in a trickle charger.

Terry, I pulled up a pic of the Enders trouble light. It looks like the power cord is like the brown speaker wire. I found a great match at my local Ace Hardware. Look for 18/2 brown lamp wire.
