engine lid plug

#1 Post by Nate Greene »

I was about to install a luggage rack on the Super 90 for upcoming 356 event travel and I noticed these plastic plugs where the luggage rack installs. I have not encountered these plugs before so does anybody know what they are? If original to the car I am inclined to leave them alone.

Related subject: It's been many decades since I've had reason to think about this, but am I correct that my 1964 356C cabriolet had plugs in the threaded mounting holes made of something like nylon, in a thimble shape, and they pressed in?

According to Mike Wilson originals are threaded. The repos at Stoddard are press in.
