- The end of the shroud is not meant to be concave, but follow the curve of the profile as viewed from the back.
- Holes # 1 and 2 are all the way through both sides. The 3rd one gets blocked by the oil cooler when installed.
- Holes # 4 and 5 are threaded. Meant to be there, but get the rubber plugs.

Can anyone confirm my suspicions that the following are knucklehead modifications to our fan shroud, and not meant to be there?

Re: Fan Shroud Mods
The left side bent in is incorrect and holes 1, 2 and 3 are not factory.

Re: Fan Shroud Mods
I agree with Mike on the non-original holes. While getting a fan shroud ready for refurbishing yesterday I noticed a radio static eliminator device on the shroud which certainly looks original. Thought I'd share it with you.

Interesting placement. Usually on the voltage regulator and generator.

Re: Fan Shroud Mods
Mine is shown in the photo below. It is mounted on the voltage regulator. Same type of clamp, different rating than the one shown above, and different connections with the two screws on mine. It came with the car, which is about all I can tell you about it.

Re: Fan Shroud Mods
I did a little research, and John Bunin did a post about the noise suppressors back on 4/26/2010.
Here is his comment:
Bosch radio interference condensers for Porsche 356B/C:
EMKO 9Z17Z Ignition coil, term 15; Regulator, term B+
EMKO 21Z1Z Generator, term D+; Regulator, term D+/61
EMKO 21Z2Z Regulator, term B+

Re: Fan Shroud Mods
Jim, that Bosch EMKO 9Z 17Z is original to your car, likely. The "H" stamped on it dates it to 1952. Your car must have originally came with a radio. And the mounting is in exactly the correct spot. Same as VW.
Porsche used Beru and Bosch condensers during this period.

James, I don't think that's an "H" date stamp on Jim's condenser. It's not similar to other Bosch "H" date stamps that I've seen.James Davies wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 11:36 pm Jim, that Bosch EMKO 9Z 17Z is original to your car, likely. The "H" stamped on it dates it to 1952...
I suspect it's probably a "T" for 1962, preceded by a Roman "1" for Q1 (Jan-March). Maybe Jim can take a closer look, and let us know.

Re: Fan Shroud Mods
I am not trying to ignore the groups requiste for a better look at the stamp on my condenser but I put it in a "special place" and can't find it. Don't suppose any of you have ever done that. I agree that it is very unlikely that came from 1952. The fan shround was definetly not that old. 1962 would make more sense. It was something I had in stock for a very long time and not on an engine. If and when I find it I will take some very close up photos and post.

Re: Fan Shroud Mods
Agree Jon. Thanks for catching that. The early 50s condensers I have have the stamp on the bracket, and it's the full date stamp with month number and letter year.Jon Bunin wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 1:20 amJames, I don't think that's an "H" date stamp on Jim's condenser.
