So what's the question? Do you have a photo of the Kardex?

Shouldn't the service book number be the same as the chassis number?

If you Google Porsche Kardex, there are plenty of them, and I don't see a single one where KF heft is filled in. Exactly what is it anyway? I have never seen this item, or maybe I have but never knew what it was called??

I think we need to distinguish between the box which reads Kfz.-Brief Nr. and KD-Heft Nr. the KFZ only pertains to cars sold and registered in Germany. This box would list the kraftfahrzeugbrief (registration) number. The KD heft box lists the warranty booklet number. All booklets had a unique number.

To answer your question, the original service book, if still with the car, would give you some insights into the history of your car. Tis would only pertain to when and where the cars was serviced. In some instances it also lists the name of the first owner and selling dealer but not always.

My '64 C has the KD-Heft-Nr filled (86620), and my '65 SC also has the number 90160 in the space.
