I am pretty sure I am missing the plate and just have washers, which seems fine. I never knew of the plate.

Depending upon the chrome surround, some clip onto the back plate. Others just press fit onto the radio.
If you need parts, Vintageblau has a lot of them.

Do you have the rear hanger? If you don't that is a lot of stress on the dash face.

I do have a rear hanger. A length of coat-hanger wire bent to shape with loop for the center stud. It does the job perfectly.

:D As long as there is something there, right? The one advantage of the factory hanger is the built in rubber grommets where it attaches above, but knowing you I am sure that has been attended to as well.

Thanks Mike. Your backing plate looks like it would work with the my lower bezel but our bezels don't look the same. What car or Blaupunkt is this backing plate from?

Hi, James:

If memory serves me right, I bought these as spare parts. I have a few other chrome surrounds as well. I've seen a couple of different backing plates. It's challenging as Blaupunkts were put into different makes; BMW, Mercedes and probably others.

The top on is for a 70 thru 73 911. The bottom one is for a 67 or so thru 69. Neither one require a backing plate but attach directly to the Blaupunkt radio.

I could be off by a few months, so please cut me some slack :)

Note: more than one version of the factory rear hanger…
