Interesting, thanks for that info. I never realized the kardex doesn't really show when the car was completed.

Over the years -- especially recently -- I've decided when it comes to 356s, close doesn't just count in horseshoes.

And I almost ordered the kardex when they were still available because I thought it would show the actual build date. Glad I didn't bother!

There is a nice article about what the words on the kardex mean (in English with the original German) on this site at:
https://porsche356registry.org/article/241?
The original article in the magazine was even nicer, because it showed actual kardex images, so it made more sense.
I wrote it and I know nice!

Likely a bookkeeping thing simply documenting the transfer of ownership. Until the finished car was invoiced it was on the books at Zuffenhausen.Emil Wojcik wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 5:38 pm Interesting, thanks for that info. Further to Brett's point, the Reutter certificate from Erlkonig Classic shows the Datum Auslieferung Reutter an Porsche (Date delivery Reutter to Porsche). In the case of my '53 that was delivered to Nurnberg, Reutter transferred the car to Porsche on 08/07/53; Porsche installed the mechanicals, completed the manufacturing process and transferred the car to Autohaus Krauss on 08/17/53. Autohaus Krauss recorded the first service of the car (likely what we now refer to as dealer prep) on 08/25/53 - and one very happy US soldier drove it off the lot!

My car is 129391 Reutter. CoA says May 64. I don't have an exact date.

Reutter: 129511 4/13/64 159273 9/17/63
Porsche: 129222 4/8/64, 129979 5/15/64 160595 5/6/64
Can anyone provide additional data points around these?
Regarding your old post from 2019 which I just pulled: Our 1964 356 SC coupe's delivery date was May 11, 1964, VIN 129672. Per the Kardex, it was delivered as part of a "PCA tour," AKA Treffen.

Which one? I'd be interested in photos of the 911 for the 1965-1973 911/912 Authenticity book now in the works.

Brett I asked and was told Reutter certificates are NOT available for the Porsche Karosserie cars so maybe Rudy can tell you numbers of last Reutter built coupes and Cabs?
