to clarify about the Mädler luggage:
the foldable suitcase is called "aviatic" and was offered since the early 50ies and these types of foldable luggage is still in production, f.i. by Seeger in black leather.

There had been two versions available:
a 100 cm long versions for 4 men suits
a 137 cm long version for 10-12 women skirts

these had been available with a light stabilising framing as an extra for a surplus.

Attached are advertisements for the luggage from introduction in 1952, 1953 and 1963 to show the consistancy of the luggage type.
The advertisement slogans are

"the pinnacle of travel convenience - the new carbag"
and
"directly from the wardrobe into Mädlers carbag"

enjoy...

dear all,

the shirt case had been an all time favourate by the factory and I had mine gotten first from my grandmother, who had it since the mid sixties. It was a nice green/blue tartan Mädler version, which I used to travel up into the early 2000.

I now stumbled across luggage option 9241, and I do ask myself, since when it had been available. Does anyone has informations on the 9241 prior to its apperance in the 67 print materials?

It is a first hand item, the preowner bought it directly at the Porsche KG, and he remembers a small sales room at the factory. He used this shirt case all the years in his C coupe.

As you can imagine i am very honored to have it received and it will be in my personal collection and given to my sons…;)

dear all,

I got noted about a nice set of factory luggage set, which was acquired shortly by a true gentleman 356 driver.
I will visit him for doing some more documentation and correct measurement on the following:

Accessory number 9250
"Canvas suitcase, red/black, behind emergency seat ($8.65)"
40 x 36 x 12 cm

Accessory number 9258
"Canvas suitcase, small, red/black, under front hood ($11.00)"
50 x 43 x 12 cm

Interesting photos of the clasp- Thanks for sharing.

As a note, long ago I had a red plaid canvas suitcase for the trunk in my 356 C. It's sold but it had the same brass clasp with the same IKAFIX GLEITER on the back side.

I do currently have a green plaid bag that I bought from a seller in Germany and it also has this same, very unique clasp. IKAFIX GLEITER is on the back side of the clasp. I sometimes put this bag on the back seat when showing the car but it goes well on the luggage rack or under the front hood. It's fairly large, I'd guess about 20" long without measuring.

I've now sold my car  and I guess will eventually get around to selling this BAG and a few other things I've collected. I do not have any evidence this was ever a bag offered by the factory, but it sure looks appropriate with the car.

Anyway, thank you for sharing.
