If anyone has a plaid soft sided suitcase like shown in Adams post above, I know a buyer.

Dick, thanks for your insight into this subject. Flax, thus linen, has been around much longer than cotton. It is certainly possible that the actual fibre may no longer related to the name in common use. Do you think the "cord" has particular significance; cord as in corduroy?

Peter leinberger wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2012 1:10 pm Hi Dick, thanks so much for all the info on the Bag. I shot some photos of my bag that might help a little. On the zipper pull is a "W" in a stylized script. Is this the Witzl i.d.? I couldn't find any other markings on it. The dimensions are (L)-27", (W)- 9",(H) 13" on the wide bottom end, 10" on the narrower top end.
i think the „W“ is a „M“ and this would stand for „MÄDLER" which also is a luggage producer ....
Mädler did produce luggage for Porsche as did Hepco

@Peter
I checked the bag again...the measurements would fit, I'm not sure about the fabric but there were 356 different fabrics in reds and greens.
From the make it seems to be a late bag, since the early always had the encircling leather straps. later there were only the medallions as handle holder see also the green sports bag. All in all, the bag should be real. At least it is a real Mädler! The zipper of the zipper, the leather zippers on the zipper, the shape and size will fit.

In order to pic up the luggage theme again...
found some nice folders, mentioning some small „purse“ for shoes, and I thought, hey....and luckily found it again in my luggage collection...

The „purse“ is about 38 cm long and 18 cm wide...

enjoy

Good Day Haul!
Nice to see you're still active in the Porsche luggage scene. I'm fairly certain these three items where early aftermarket pieces offered by entities outside the factory. Most enjoyable to see and happy you posted this information.

Send me an email to check in.

Stay well, Chris

first of all : happy new year @all
and
to come back again to the luggage theme in 2022:
i could aquire a very nice set of a Mädler blue/green tartan suitcase and the shirt/shoe weekender, both in excellent condition.

The handles, corners and applications are all in black leather. The zippers all do work fine. The interiour on both is in a nice silver gray fabric, the suitcase has leather straps inside.

They both do show no exteriour „Mädler“ markings, just the suitcase on the interiour.

All in all a very very nice period correct set.

Have a look at yourself.
